Tom Chapin, singer, songwriter and three-time Grammy award winner, is celebrating his 75th birthday by performing alongside bandmate Michael Mark who turns 70 in Beacon, New York, Saturday, March 14, 2020.To be part of the party, head on over to the Towne Crier Caf, a Hudson Valley landmark located on Main Street in Beacon, New York to see the performance at 8:30PM.Dinner reservations start at 5:30PM.The event is billed as an unforgettable evening of song and story as Chapin shares selections from his 26 recordings for children and adults.The concert promises to be a lively mix of story songs, ballads, comedic and political songs, family music, sing-alongs, old-time folk classics and a favorite song or two of his late brother Harrys.Concert goers are asked to bring non-perishable food to donate to Beacons St.
Andrews and St.Lukes Food Pantry.Tickets are $25 advance and $30 at the door.The concert coincides with Pi Day which is celebrated around the world on March 14th.Pi Day is in honor of the Greek letter , the mathematics symbol.
The day is popular among math enthusiasts.Special 20th Anniversary Re-Release of Environmental CDChapin will be re-releasing a special 20th anniversary of his environmental CD, This Pretty Planet on Earth Day, April 22,, 2020.This year marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.The title song was played on the Discovery 7 Space Shuttle to wake the astronauts including John Glenn.A companion songbook will be available.Childrens Book to Be PublishedSimon & Schuster will be releasing a beautifully illustrated childrens book of This Pretty Planet on November 3rd.
