By Parag Dalsania, MD.To move is to be humanits inherent to our very nature. Its not just about exercising or going to the gym, nor is it a number on your smartwatch or phone, and its certainly not a chore.Rather, it is about joyfully living and connecting with our true essence.Movement is the fundamental part of being alive.

All living things are in constant motion, from microscopic cellular activity to the movement of our bodies as we go about our daily lives. To be alive is to move, and to move is to feel alive. The human body is the most sophisticated and remarkable living machine ever created. We are born with the ability to experience joy and happiness through movementwhether by playing, exploring, or working.

Choosing to move is choosing to live, to connect with ourselves, with those we love, and with the beautiful world around us.Our body is in constant motion, both internally and externally.Inside, a complex network of cells is continuously moving and working. Each of our 30 trillion cells is in perpetual motion, functioning to keep us at our best.

Some cells travel throughout the body, hunting for pathogens, while others repair, heal, and maintain our organseven eliminating rogue cancer cells. To keep each cell functioning optimally, there is an incredible, nonstop flurry of activity within them, ensuring our body continues to work efficiently. To keep us alive, our 78 organs are constantly moving and working. In the 1,440 minutes of a day, our heart beats 100,000 times, our lungs take 22,000 breaths, and our blood travels 12,000 miles.

Our digestive system moves food through 30 feet of intestines, processing everything we eat.Meanwhile, our incredible neural network, with its 100 trillion connections, continuously transmits chemicals across synapses. The beauty of it all? It happens effortlessly, without us even thinking about it.

Like a fascinating magic trick, our bodies have built-in intelligence to take care of everything else. You dont even have to remember to breatheyour autonomic nervous system that does that for you.It even knows how to heal a cut when you scrape your knee.To keep our bodies functional optimally, we must actively participate by resting, nourishing ourselves with nutritious foods, avoid toxic substances, and engaging in adequate movement.

Active voluntary movement is vital for maintaining optimal internal function. It stimulates circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to every cell while aiding waste removal.Movement also enhances cellular repair, reduces inflammation, and supports digestion, lung capacity, and heart health.

Additionally, it regulates hormones and strengthens neural connectivity, keeping the brain sharp and responsive.By incorporating regular physical movement, we support and sustain the intricate processes that keep our bodies functioning at their best.It is not just about looking your best, but rather it is about feeling and being your best from the inside out.Modern humans have been around for nearly 200,000 years.

To survive, they had to be effective, adaptive, and creative, with bodies in peak athletic condition. We are here today because our ancestors were the best of the best at survival. Our bodies were never designed to sit and remain inactive for most of the day.Its only in the past 200 years that we havent had to physically work for our food and water.

In the past, people spent hours moving just to obtain these necessities.Unfortunately, in modern times, the average American now spends 7 hours and 3 minutes in front of a screen daily.Given that our bodies were not built for prolonged inactivitycombined with the widespread consumption of highly processed, calorie-dense foodswe are now witnessing a tragic rise in modern diseasesThe human body was designed for movementand to move often.

It is composed of a complex network of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones that work together to provide support, stability, and power. Our movements are coordinated, smooth, and efficient. When the body is in motion, it feels its best and functions optimally at every given moment. We are equipped with built-in mechanismslike bands, springs, and powerful musclesthat allow us to perform incredible feats.

We can walk, run, hop, jump, roll, hang, climb, twist, swim, bike, dribble, throw, skip, dance, play, and so much more. Thus, we must honor our design and keep moving.Live each day like a beautiful spring morning.Let your vibrant self-bloom like a radiant flower reaching for the sun.

Rediscover the joy of movementunfold the wings within you and reach to embrace the light.Find activities that bring you happiness and be kind to yourself by moving just a little more than yesterday.Feel the energy of life as your body moves, as naturally as a flower blossoming in the sun.

Move not out of obligation, but because it connects you to your body and the exhilaration of being alive.Movement is the dance of life welcome it.
