Pride Events and Activities - Senior Planet from AARP

This June, Senior Planet is celebrating all things Pride! But Senior Planets spaces for LGBT+ seniors arent limited to just one month in the year.Those in the community are invited to join our weekly Pride Discussion Group and Senior Planet Communitys LGBTQIA+ Community Group!As I age, I feel more isolated and having the Senior Planet Pride Group was a lifesaver, said Deborah Carbone, a longtime attendee.The Pride Discussion Group started in 2021 and the Senior Planet Community group launched soon after.

While both are still going strong today, newcomers are always welcome!We started the discussion group to ensure that a space existed for LGBT+ older adults where they could connect from the safety of their own homes, said Pam Hugi, the groups co-founder.But the participants themselves have been the ones to truly shape what its become a welcoming circle where seniors can gather to laugh, cry, and proudly be themselves.We couldnt be more thrilled to see the discussion group going strong over three years later!Pride Discussion Group meets every Monday at 4pm ET to discuss a wide range of topics selected by those who attend.

Members of the Senior Planet Community group can connect with each other through the platform at any time! What else is Senior Planet doing to celebrate Pride month?Senior Planet is hosting a drag show featuring five older adult drag queens on 6/20! The event will be held at the Senior Planet Center in Denver, CO and live streamed to anyone wanting to join virtually.All are welcome!Want to show up and support Senior Planets LGBTQ+ community?
